ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the editors briefly describe the rationale for examining the civic learning assessment landscape. They provide an overview of the volume, summarizing the contents of each section. They conclude by discussing the potential benefits of a more balanced approach to assessing civic learning opportunities and outcomes, and they identify some considerations for future research and development in this area.
