ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses future projections regarding changes in energy supply and consumption. On the supply side, the anticipated change is the aging of energy resources. The already unstable situation of energy security may worsen due to the systematic decline in the quality of energy and resources. This situation is evidenced by declining fossil energy reserves, aging existing infrastructure (such as nuclear power plants, refineries, and power grids), and the deteriorating quality of remaining reserves. On the demand side, changes are expected in lifestyles. Factors influencing lifestyle changes include demographic shifts, age composition, and technological innovations, which have a significant impact. Quantifying future projections for demographics and age composition is relatively straightforward; however, predicting changes in the energy supply situation and future technological advancements remains challenging. Therefore, this analysis focuses on qualitative discussions rather than quantitative analysis.
