ABSTRACT
This chapter advises scientists how to communicate more effectively with journalists, public information officers, and other media professionals. It provides key context about the practice of journalism and relationships between journalists and scientists. The chapter then provides guidance to help scientists prepare for and carry out interactions with journalists. Readers will also learn how to successfully navigate challenges that are sometimes associated with these interactions. The chapter also helps prepare scientists to collaborate with public information officers and other media professionals, like graphic designers and filmmakers.
