ABSTRACT
This chapter examines why and how effective team communication contributes to the success of science collaboration. It outlines key dimensions in effective team communication, including shared goals, trust, spending time together, presence, and the balance of relational and task-oriented communication. This chapter also provides other practical strategies to foster effective internal team communication, exploring how to effectively manage conflict, assess performance, bring in experts, and cultivate empathy. Throughout this chapter, we underscore that building a healthy communication climate within teams is essential to advancing science. It is important to build a reflective and strategic team communication plan to foster trust and productivity.
