ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the foundations and practical implementation of multi-agency collaboration in the context of large event management. Drawing on research from diverse fields, including safeguarding, victim support, crime prevention and emergency response, the chapter examines investigates the benefits and challenges of inter-agency working. It discusses the legislative and organisational frameworks that underpin partnership approaches, such as Community Safety Partnerships and Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements, while highlighting the critical importance of effective communication, information sharing, and joint strategic planning. By examining the concept of “wicked problems” and the necessity of joined-up responses, the chapter identifies recurring themes and barriers within collaborative practice, culminating in the presentation of a theoretical framework for multi-agency working that informs analysis of a multi-agency approach to large events.
