ABSTRACT
This final chapter brings together some final reflections on the possibilities of literature and fiction to foster empathy narrating about difficult topics such as death, violence, and social exclusion. The author discusses the notion of age-appropriateness and the potential of childist criticism to rethink children’s literature’s role in fostering political awareness, and ethical engagement.
