ABSTRACT

A critical view of paradigm shifts involves questioning the underlying assumptions, motivations, and implications of the proposed changes. It requires scrutiny of the evidence supporting the shift and consideration of potential biases or vested interests influencing the discourse. While paradigm shifts can lead to progress and innovation, they can also be driven by political agendas, economic interests, or social pressures, which may obscure their true significance or impact. It is essential to assess whether a purported paradigm shift genuinely represents a transformative advance in knowledge or merely a rebranding of existing ideas. This chapter adopts a critical perspective towards paradigm shifts, questioning established norms and exploring alternative viewpoints. This chapter encourages readers to challenge assumptions and consider the potential drawbacks of paradigmatic change.
