ABSTRACT

A science paradigm is the result of consensus among researchers in a given discipline and ensures knowledge advancement, problem-solving, and the categorical resolution of certain issues. The crystallization of paradigms occurs at the second stage in the development of a discipline as it matures. Current management science paradigms place great emphasis on agility and innovativeness in answer to rapidly changing market conditions. At the centre of attention, we also find digitalization and the use of advanced analytics for taking decisions. Another key element is human resources management that takes into account the growing role of sustainable development and social responsibility. This chapter explores the dominant paradigm that currently governs management science. By dissecting its core principles and underlying assumptions, this chapter provides readers with a nuanced understanding of the prevailing theoretical framework and its implications for contemporary theory and practice.
