ABSTRACT
AI’s rise may lead to the end of cities as we know them, evoking scenarios of ruin, extinction and apocalypse. Yet, “apocalypse” also means unveiling, offering insights into human existence. This chapter will explore the concept of artificial general intelligence (AGI), addressing its potential threats and its role in the urban context. By analysing AI’s influence on conversation and human interaction, I uncover the ways it reshapes cities and societal values, highlighting its potential for both disruption and insight.
