ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter sets the stage for a comprehensive exploration of climate change communication, particularly within the context of populist far-right parties in Germany, Spain, and Austria. It delves into the intricacies of climate change communication, specifically exploring its role within the diverse landscape of political orientations and ideologies. The focal point is understanding how different political factions, particularly far-right populist parties, engage with and influence climate change discourse. This issue gains heightened significance in the context of the ongoing climate crisis, where effective communication becomes pivotal for informed decision-making and sustainable policies. The introductory chapter seeks to highlight the relevance of such issues by unravelling implications and challenges associated with climate obstruction, shedding light on the potential consequences of obstructive narratives propagated by far-right populist entities. Given the urgency of addressing climate-related issues and the growing influence of far-right populism, this exploration aims to contribute to a nuanced understanding of the complex interplay between climate change communication, political ideologies, and the challenges posed by climate obstruction.
