ABSTRACT
This chapter engages in a comprehensive discussion and comparison of climate change communication by populist far-right parties in Germany, Spain, and Austria. The chapter unfolds in various sections. After briefly discussing the temporal evolution of climate change prevalence in the three countries and among different political parties, it delves into the discourse about climate change within each policy field, exploring the links towards the discourse of the respective PFRP. I emphasise once again the interplay between climate change obstruction and national circumstances and environmental traditions. Subsequently, I compare the discourses about climate change of the AfD, Vox, and the FPÖ and draw insights into the role of populism in their climate change communication by referencing the existing populism literature. Finally, I address practical implications, limitations, and future research.
