ABSTRACT
This chapter investigates Fort Nassau as an integral part of the Banda Islands’ cultural landscape. It discusses the fort’s tangible and intangible heritage, its relationship with the natural environment, and its role in local and national identity. The analysis includes discussions on sensory landscapes, spiritual meanings, and the fort’s role in the collective memory of the Bandanese people.
