ABSTRACT
The development of digital platforms has international dimensions. Their development is also fostered by development of local (regional) ecosystems that support the creation of digital platforms. At the centre of digital platform development are BigTech companies, which function as the core operating system subjecting the rest of the world to its inclusive control drift and rent-seeking logics. The activities of these entities trigger many socio-economic processes, among which are such trends like digital inclusion. The use of digital platforms also enables worldwide connectivity, which broadens the possibilities for societies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially from underdeveloped parts of the world.
