ABSTRACT
The beginning of the chapter discusses the emergence and use of the currently predominant general management paradigm, which has played an essential role in the development of mankind. The manager–subordinate paradigm concept is defined and analyzed with a focus on the two constituents, the relationships between them, and its ten features. An examination of the paradigm's multifaceted impact on management philosophy, theory, and practice concludes the chapter. For the reader, this chapter provides for the first time in the management literature two essential elements: an original concept, namely, the “manager–subordinate general management paradigm,” which is very useful for the development of management philosophy, theory, and practice; and an analysis of the management practice from the beginning in the primitive commune to present, through the lens of the paradigm, that contributes to better understand the management practice evolution and to generate innovative managerial approaches.
