ABSTRACT
This chapter is based on the top-down approach. It starts with the presentation of the main changes in the context of the organization, structured in four parts: the transition to stakeholder capitalism; the transition to the knowledge-based economy; the transition to the digital economy; and the influence of megashifts. It continues with the organization and its management philosophy and theory, revealing and analyzing the main innovative approaches and concepts focused on stakeholders. The third part is dedicated to the management practice, analyzing the main mechanisms focused on the external stakeholders: customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The last part of the chapter deals with the limits of the manager–subordinate general management paradigm. All these elements demonstrate to the reader the need for a new management, one that is able to valorize the great opportunities provided by the knowledge-, digital-, and stakeholder-based economy, to face grand societal challenges, and to increase the economic, social, ecologic, and educational performances of the business.
