ABSTRACT

This chapter summarises key findings of the book and considers them in relation to previous studies of left ideas about Israel in other countries. It argues that bringing in the case of Norway and the interpretations presented in this book, raises doubt over explanations citing national peculiarities of Germany, Britain, or the US and may constitute an important step towards explanations that apply beyond the borders of individual nation-states. It suggests that, with certain limitations, many of the explanations this book has proposed for changing ideas about Zionism and Israel in the Norwegian context may also apply in different national contexts.
