ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the creation of the Delaware Early Literacy Research Practice Partnership (DEL RPP), which was developed in response to legislation promoting the alignment of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning to the Science of Reading and to leverage the power of research-practice partnerships (RPPs) to address inequities in literacy outcomes across the state. Using the guiding framework on RPP equity, this chapter discusses how the DEL RPP centered equity in its partnership development process and a collaboratively constructed grant proposal. It also discusses the continued work needed to sustain equity in the DEL RPP. In describing these aspects, we also discuss opportunities and constraints afforded by the local social and political context, including educational priorities, system characteristics, and the climate for equity.
