ABSTRACT
Ecosystems refer to a network of actors with shared structural, organisational, functional and technological features. The online gambling industry is networked with a wide array of actors, including suppliers, service providers and other third parties. Collectively, these actors produce gambling products and platforms, generate gambling content, facilitate payments, market and advertise gambling and, in some cases, participate in the regulation of gambling. Third-party actors benefit widely from gambling operations for their own business. This chapter also looks at how the ecosystem of the regulated gambling industry overlaps with the ecosystem of the offshore industry and what kind of impact this complex network can have on individuals and societies.
