ABSTRACT
This chapter reflects on how creative space has become an emerging arena where international students are able to represent themselves and their experiences. This chapter looks specifically at 2 diverse creative mediums where international students in Australia have found spaces for (self) representation: the television comedy and the theatre. In particular, this chapter looks at the American-based and Malaysian-born former Australian international student Ronny Chieng's television series Ronny Chieng: International Student. It also looks at the international student theatre group Act of Translation whose plays reflect the real experiences of its international student actors. This chapter thus discusses the rich experiences of international students who use the creative realm to present audiences with entertaining, funny, and poignantly honest conversations about their experiences in Australia.
