ABSTRACT
Focusing on some of the key qualities of a metal mix, this chapter compares the eight producer mixes and the reference mix provided by the research team. It explores aspects such as dimension—encompassing proximity, depth, and width—overproduction and hyperreality, drum panning and cohesion, orchestration, and mastering. The aim of this chapter is to guide the reader in comparing the mixes by highlighting fundamental differences and key elements to consider. It emphasizes the subjective nature of listening and the perception of heaviness. Rather than asserting which mix is the heaviest, this final chapter encourages the reader to compare the mixes and train their ears, enabling them to make their own judgments.
