ABSTRACT
This chapter addresses the vital component of motivation that is needed within every course and class. Different aspects of motivation and how it pertains to the teaching and learning process will be described and demonstrated along with how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used as an assistive tool. John Keller's ARCS (Attention, Relevancy, Confidence, and Satisfaction) model of motivation will be focused on since it offers a simple but powerful way to understand motivation within teaching and learning. Motivation must become an important course component that you take into consideration when designing a course and when conducting each individual class in order to maximize the teaching and learning experience and to enhance student success.
