ABSTRACT
The starting point for the development of an economic and legal model for the financing of long-term and capital-intensive investment projects using blockchain technology is the general analysis of the specificities of long-term and capital-intensive investment projects and their financing mechanisms. This analysis is presented in Chapter 1. Several historical examples and specific organizational, social, legal, economic and financial characteristics of long-term and capital-intensive investments are highlighted. The chapter also highlights the importance of project finance. It discusses project finance from a broad legal, economic and organizational perspective. Different methods of legal regulation of project finance are considered: the standardization of contracts by the state, general project finance legislation, a sector-specific approach in general project finance legislation, and an approach involving the creation of laws and other legal acts dedicated to a specific capital-intensive and long-term investment. The main organizational aspects of such projects and the principles of their financing are discussed.
