ABSTRACT

The final chapter brings together the main findings of this research and reflects upon what we can learn about the politics of the cultural industries by considering the perspective of ordinary participants. Organising the insights of the project under ten overarching themes, I consider the implications for policy and practice, demonstrating that the experiences of media contributors, producers, and working conditions are all inextricably interconnected. Finally, I reflect upon duty of care practices and how they have evolved over recent years, analysing how effectively they respond to the fundamental issues this research has highlighted.
