ABSTRACT
Spain follows the European Union on green infrastructure for better planning, management, and conservation of the territory. To do this, they work at different spatial and administrative scales, from the macro scale at the state level, through the average of the autonomous communities until reaching the municipal level and the cities, where 87% of the Spanish population resides. In urban areas, large strategic projects are being developed mainly in the more prominent cities, but their implementation is being promoted in other cities, towns, and villages. In Spain, this strategy is positioned as key to confronting climate change, improving territorial resilience, and improving the quality and well-being of citizens. The academia, political agents, professionals, and society are collaborating to achieve an adequate territorial balance designed with natural capital in mind.
