ABSTRACT

Major life transitions pose considerable challenges that require learning, much of which is transformative in nature. When navigating life transitions, it is often through the experiences of daily living that significant challenges must be addressed and transformative learning processes take place. This chapter draws upon the story of a Ukrainian war refugee and her experience – transitioning to life as a war refugee living in a new country – to illustrate the learning involved through daily living during a time of transition. Four themes are explored: changing contexts, daily activities and routines, navigating liminality, and social activities and interactions.
