ABSTRACT

This tagre observes the impact of language indifference and nonchalance in Intercultural Communication Education and Research (ICER). It scrutinises the perils of linguistic complacency, which can engender misunderstandings and supress intercultural research and education. The role of language as a pivotal force in shaping ICER is underscored, suggesting that it carries multifaceted ideologies, values and beliefs that significantly influence perceptions and interactions. The tagre proposes strategies for researchers to mitigate linguistic indifference, advocating for a more conscientious approach to language use. It also raises critical ethical considerations, arguing that language indifference and nonchalance can lead to misrepresentation and exclusion, thereby undermining the integrity of ICER. Through a close reading of literary works and academic texts, the tagre illuminates the complex interplay between language, power and interculturality.
