ABSTRACT

This part of the book is oriented to take a critical look at CCUS as a technology that can support the EU's pro-climate goals and actions. The presence of CCUS in the public discourse appears at the intersection of energy needs (including the mitigation of CO2 emissions) and the possibility of pro-climate actions in unfavorable socio-political conditions. Here we wonder to what extent this research can explain that social aspect of ignorance and resistance to the energy transition idea. We note that an important context for change may be the recognition of “feelings of social justice” triggered by inadequate planning and communication of the energy transition.
