ABSTRACT

The aim of the chapter is to show the social, economic and political background of the research on the social acceptance of CCUS in North Poland. It includes a review of statistical and demographic data on the West Pomeranian Province, as well as the characteristics of two local communities where UGS investment could potentially be located. The chapter contains social characterization of the West Pomeranian Province as a part of Poland, including political orientations in the region and in selected communities; description of the regional demographic and economic data and the differentiation of subregions and counties; description of Choszczno and Marianowo from the perspective of their localization in the region.
