ABSTRACT

This final chapter builds upon Chapter 3's exploration of legacies of inhumanity, offering a renewed vision of a just global society grounded in ethical pillars and relational values. It begins with an in-depth analysis of structural injustice, highlighting the ways in which systemic racism, entrenched inequalities, and widespread unfairness persist. It then examines both the potential and limitations of institutional accountability and personal and collective responsibility in resisting these injustices. Drawing on expansive moral imagination and ethical design, this chapter develops an innovative conceptual framework for a politics of dignity – a global political architecture designed to transcend current dehumanizing systems. This approach prioritizes the inherent human dignity and the well-being of all and encourages societal participation in sustaining core human values, reconnecting with intergenerational wisdom, and co-creating flourishing futures. It concludes that although the histories of many communities are deeply intertwined with systemic inequalities and oppressive, power-driven institutions, instilling human dignity and shared flourishing as ethical pillars can cultivate equitable social conditions and foster an architecture of healing and well-being.
