ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 discusses staff and faculty models in large public honors colleges along with recruitment of talented individuals and pointers for retaining them. Although honors colleges have a variety of personnel models, certain positions remain stable across the country, which are common themes in this chapter. The staff section provides an overview of positions in the functional areas: advancement, finance, recruitment/admissions, programming, advising, administrative support, communications, and the dean's office. The faculty section considers the wide range of appointment types (including tenure-track) and responsibilities for honors faculty as well as ways to support their professional and leadership development. An important theme scattered throughout this chapter is the ability of honors to produce an atmosphere conducive to the long-term career success of its employees within an innovative and collaborative framework.
