ABSTRACT
Language is never neutral. The words we use shape how we see the world, reflect power relations, and carry histories of struggle and exclusion. In this book, I make choices about spelling and terminology to acknowledge these histories and the ways language structures our understanding of race, power, and belonging. These choices are neither incidental nor merely stylistic; they are meant to foreground the contested nature of the terms we rely on to describe social realities.
