The concluding chapter reflects on the importance of including ocean creatures in the storytelling of the ocean in our troubled times. It shows how science and commerce continue to set the agenda for human relations with our companion species, privileging the commercial value of these bottom dwellers instead of their critical role in taking care of the ocean ecosystem. The book concludes with an important message from sea cucumbers, pleading for our protection.
