ABSTRACT
This chapter applies the previous findings of the book to the social sphere. Is there an emergent level of social wholes beyond individual actors, or are we left with ontological or methodological individualism? Might there be something in between individualism and holism? Do social powers exist, and are they a species of causation? What might downward causation mean in the social realm? These are the questions this chapter addresses.
