ABSTRACT

Everything can be translated; nothing stays the same. Translating is transferring. Source and target, and the distance from A to B. Humans like to think in pairs. But the ways of translation are not dual – they are infinite. Power and nostalgia in translation. Acquisitive societies, respectful societies. Ancient Romans and modern Europeans. Ways out of the dichotomies, and away from the tower of Babel. The futuristic dream of total translation. It takes a human to translate a human. Nothing stays the same, everything can be translated.
