ABSTRACT
In this chapter, Arlene Holmes-Henderson describes how her career pivoted from a traditional Classics academic pathway to one as an advisor to government and parliament. Equipped with knowledge and skills to engage senior civil servants in conversation about the role of Classics in the curriculum, she has secured significant strategic investment for Classics in schools. She explains the ‘snowball effect’ of both funding and societal impact after extending her advisory expertise to All-Party Parliamentary Groups. She concludes with recommendations for arts and humanities academics who are keen to engage policy actors with their research.
