ABSTRACT
Artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally changing the way people learn and the role of adult learning in the 21st century, underlining the need for lifelong learning and adaptation to a dynamic labour market. This chapter analyses the impact of AI on adult learning skills, experiences and wellness, highlighting the opportunities and challenges of personalised learning. Changes in the development of hard and soft skills, the role of AI in shaping psychological wellness and in changing people's learning mindsets are examined. The need to reorient the purpose of education from building human capital to human development, based on AI's ability to perform increasingly complex cognitive tasks, is highlighted. The chapter provides an insight into the trends and future perspectives of AI and presents the results of a study on the development of learning skills, experiences, wellness of Latvian adults and key challenges of AI use in the context of the European Union and non-EU countries (Switzerland and the UK).
