ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines our methodological approach, grounded in the decolonial method and epistemologies of the South. It provides a detailed overview of the research methods and techniques employed, highlighting interviews as the primary method, supplemented by workshops and a quantitative survey. The chapter also defines and discusses the concept of the megaproject and details the criteria for case study selection. Subsequently, it describes the specific large-scale economic investments analyzed in this study: The Reventazón hydroelectric power plant and the Golfo de Papagayo tourist zone in Costa Rica; the Barro Blanco hydroelectric power plant in Panama; the Bahía de Tela coastal tourism park in Honduras; and the La India and La Libertad gold mines in Nicaragua.
