ABSTRACT

This chapter describes central challenges related to food access and security. It shares important facts, trends, and underlying systemic and structural problems. The chapter then shares information about the strongest leverage points in this area, leverage points that Food Policy Councils (FPCs) may choose to address that are supported through evidence, impact, and investment. After that key actors, actors with necessary agency, authority, and capability are identified. The chapter ends by sharing a set of specific FPC achievements in the area of food access and security related to convening, education, advocacy, and more.
