ABSTRACT

The second chapter provides a thorough analysis of the various AI-based tools employed by different stakeholders during arbitral proceedings, including the parties, arbitral institutions, and arbitrators. Adopting a practice-oriented approach, this chapter illustrates the use of these tools in arbitral proceedings and their limitations through various examples. In this regard, the chapter aims to identify and demonstrate the practical implementation of AI-powered tools in various stages of arbitration, including drafting an arbitration clause, filing a case, conducting remote hearings, assessing evidence, and drafting arbitral awards. Additionally, it refers to the two stages of AI implementation in international arbitration. This analysis is necessary to demonstrate that AI is already widely used by arbitral institutions worldwide. It also leads us to conclude that the number of AI tools improving the efficiency of arbitration proceedings is constantly increasing.
