Introduction

The introduction explores the effect the “digital turn” has had on our relationship to the past and establishes a dialogue with the post-Enlightenment history of ideas. The goal is to establish a deeper historical canvas for discussion of digital culture and technology and to establish key concepts that will be explored in subsequent chapters, including but not limited to modernity. The second half of the introduction provides brief chapter overviews.
