ABSTRACT

Video-on-demand (VoD) catalogues offering a huge choice have transformed how audiences discover and view screen content. This chapter explores the presence of British series and films on streaming services in four European countries: Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. First, it establishes the availability and prominence of British content within key VoD catalogues, including Netflix, accessed by those aged 16–34. It then examines how these young audiences discover and engage with British content. Combining selected catalogue and landing page analysis with audience research, it sheds light on how titles are discovered, contributing to a more holistic view of prominence and discoverability that reflects young audiences’ everyday experiences.
