ABSTRACT

In this concluding chapter, we draw together the main strands of analysis developed in the preceding chapters, revisiting the key findings from the Screen Encounters with Britain project and reassessing the book's central arguments and main theoretical contributions. We begin by identifying both continuities and changes in the positioning of British content within increasingly transnational screen markets. This is followed by a chapter-by-chapter recap of how the argument has developed. We then argue for the need to revisit longstanding conceptualisations of linguistic and cultural proximity. We conclude by outlining potential directions for future research.
