ABSTRACT
The fifth chapter shifts the focus to regional and global levels. Firstly, it analyses India's approach to the EU within the context of its interests in South Asia, Asia as a whole, and the Indo-Pacific region. Secondly, it explores the role of the EU in India's worldview and the potential reform of the international liberal order. Finally, it compares India's and the EU's positions on six international regimes that are considered crucial elements of the LIO. 1. Reform of international institutions, 2) international trade negotiations, 3) the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, 4) international climate change negotiations, 5) the promotion of democracy and the international protection of human rights, and 6) international development cooperation. The final section analyses the limitations and challenges to closer global cooperation with the EU.
