ABSTRACT

Mieke: Our next story is about the FRIS community, which is a community within the University of Amsterdam working on education innovation for a fair, resilient, and inclusive society. So, fair, resilient societies – the F, R, and S – stand for one of the four thematic priority areas of the university’s strategic institutional plan until 2026. For each of these four strategic themes, the university’s Teaching and Learning Centre, in collaboration with the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, organizes and finances thematic teaching innovation scholarship rounds. My involvement in FRIS started with an invitation from different people who knew me directly or had heard of me, and they saw me taking up a role in coordinating and supervising this round of scholarships and creating a learning community connected to it. I said yes to the invitation, not knowing exactly what it involved, but somehow sensing the potential of co-creating a space and community within our institute focused on innovation, and the possibility of bringing more regenerative-inspired ways of learning and working.
