ABSTRACT
We are delighted to welcome some of our peers – Ingeborg, Daan, Michaela, Marlies, and Alette – into this chapter 1 . In a way, they’ve been there all along, for it’s from our shared community of practice that this book project emerged in the first place, and they’ve been reading and thinking along from the start. In this chapter, we crank this co-creation up a notch, and to do so we invited them to a weekend retreat, in March 2024, in the wee village of Gouderak, near the famous place of origin of Gouda cheese and stroopwafels. At this point in time, we had a draft version of the first part of the book ready. We spent the first 1.5 days re-engaging with these chapters in close relation to participants’ own experiences and practice. Our programme was infused by delicious vegan food, hikes, and yoga and mindfulness practices. All this paved the way for the 4-hour developmental fireplace conversation that forms the basis for this chapter, which we recorded in the afternoon of the second day. In this conversation, we zoomed in on our shared effort to ’step into regenerative educatorship’. What kind of process is this? What does it ask of us?
