ABSTRACT
The series of books entitled Geopolitics in the Shatter Belt is the result of cooperation between authors specialising in research in the field of political geography and international relations. The authors’ common area of interest is geopolitics, to which they have already devoted several publications in recent years. The subject of their deeper research interest turned out to be the countries located in the so-called former Eastern Bloc, both the former Soviet republics and the Central European countries classified as the so-called people’s democracies. Each volume of this series will address the following issues: the expansion of neighbouring powers, national minorities and the influence of geopolitical location on the stability of the functioning of the analysed countries.
