ABSTRACT
This chapter explores technological advancements in aircraft and aviation and both the potential for and threat from this technology to commercial aviation and CAPs. While EASA has temporarily paused authorizing single pilot operations for large commercial aircraft because it was not yet possible for single-pilot operations to match the safety levels of the two-pilot flight deck, the threat from AI remains a concern for CAPs.
