ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the data from the View from the Flight Deck study that relates to perceptions of voice among respondents and their views of their trade union. The data reveals that respondents view management efforts to communicate with them more positively than efforts to consult. The data indicates that respondents do not believe that they have an effective voice. Views of the trade union are more positive, however, institutional factors (government support for trade union representation) play an important role both in voice and commitment to the trade union.
