ABSTRACT
Commercial aviation was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic more than others and employees in the industry arguably suffered more than employees of other industries (although the impact was felt more keenly in some areas than others). This chapter presents the data from the View from the Flight Deck study concerning the impact of the pandemic on commercial aviation pilots (CAPs). Moreover, CAPs now face an existential threat from artificial intelligence (AI) and technological substitution. This chapter also explores attitudes towards a single pilot flight deck.
