ABSTRACT
Coal mining activity is widely practised and considered by many to be the primary source of income before its prohibition by the NGT bench in 2014. Although coal mining has brought employment opportunities, tribal sustenance and economic development, it has also led to extensive environmental degradation and the erosion of traditional values in society.
